The abundance and variance of aquatic vegetation are the main factors that determine the qualitative and quantitative richness of macroinvertebrate fauna inhabiting an ecosystem. The present study extending from June, 2010 to July, 2011 was conducted in Gho-Manhasan stream with an aim to examine the association of macroinvertebrate fauna with Eichhornia crassipes (Pontederiales: Pontederiaceae). The study revealed the association of 5 phyla of macroinvertebrates with E. crassipes viz., Nemertea (0.212%), Platyhelminthes (12.753% represented Turbellaria), Annelida (18.562% represented by Oligochaeta and Hirudinea), Arthropoda (46.014% represented by Crustacea and Insecta) and Mollusca (22.449% represented by Gastropoda and Bivalvia). Not only the adults but different life-cycle stages of certain macroinvertebrates were also found in associated with E. crassipes. Larvae/nymphs of some insects were found to reside in the ischolar_mains while eggs of some insects and molluscs were observed on the leaves and petioles of E. crassipes, thus, indicating the role of this floating macrophyte as an important substrate for many macroinvertebrates. Some physico-chemical parameters such as water temperature, depth, transparency, speed, dissolved oxygen (DO),pH, free carbondioxide (FCO2), carbonates (CO32-), bicarbonates (HCO3-), calcium (Ca2+), magnesium (Mg2+) and chlorides (Cl-) were also analysed during the study period which showed well marked seasonal fluctuations. Keywords

The present study was undertaken to evaluate the diversity, abundance and distribution of the fish fauna of Behlol Nullah, a tributary of River Tawi, (Jammu). The occurrence of fifteen fish species belonging to five families i.e. Cyprinidae, Cobitidae, Bagridae, Sisoridae and Channadae were recorded of which the Cyprinidae was the most dominant group. Heavily polluted sites exhibited lower fish diversity and abundance as compared to least polluted sites. Shannon diversity and Marglef's species richness was highest at St I while Simpson's dominance and Pielou's evenness was maximum at St IV and St V respectively. Highest value of Sorenson's similarity (88.88%) was recorded between St III and St IV while Morisita Horn similarity was maximum between St I and St III (0.986). Family Channidae of icthyofauna was also significantly correlated with certain physico-chemical parameters of the nullah. Keywords

In this paper we formulate an explicit time discretization model for modeling risk by establishing an initial value problem as a function of time. The model is proved stable and the scaled-stability regions can encapsulated the volatile macroeconomic condition pertaining to financial risk. The model is extended to multistage schemes where we test for convergence under higherorder difference equations. Further, for addressing advection problems we have used Runge-Kutta method to propose a multistep model and have shown its stability patterns against general and absolute stability conditions. The paper also provides second-order and forth-order algorithm for computational programming of the models in practice. We conclude by stating that explicit time discretization models are stable and adequate for changing business environment. Keywords

The amount of time spent on testing may not give a correct idea about the number of faults removed in the software. applied to remove the fault is also an important aspect. Therefore there is need of combining these aspects for modeling of software reliability growth models. This problem is solved by considering two dimensional framework. But In the existing literature for two dimensional software reliability growth model it was assumed that there is immediate correction of the failure which is not true. There is always a time lag between detection and correction of faults. Therefore, a generalized framework for modeling multi release of two dimensional software reliability growth models is proposed in this paper. A generalized approach using hazard rate function for developing the multi release models. Various continuous failure distributions are used to derive the models. The models developed are validated on real data set of tandem computers.

Peripheral odontogenic fibroma (POF) is a rare odontogenic tumor. It resembles clinically with other peripheral exophytic lesions like pyogenic granuloma, peripheral ossifying fibroma, and peripheral giant cell granuloma. Hence, needs to be differentiated from such other lesions. Histopathological examination being the only diagnostic approach for peripheral odontogenic fibroma, which can provide a basis for treatment and prognosis evaluation. This case report presents a rare clinical case of a 14-year-old female patient with a palatal overgrowth along the maxillary incisors, which was diagnosed as peripheral odontogenic fibroma. Keywords

Fruit and shoot borer (FSB)-resistant Bt brinjal Event 142 with cry1Fa1 gene has been approved for biosafety research level (BRL)-II field trials by the Genetic Engineering Appraisal Committee (GEAC), the competent authority in India. For regulatory compliance, systematic detection of genetically modified (GM) crops would facilitate monitoring for the presence of a GM event in the supply chain. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and real-time PCR are widely used for GM detection globally. Qualitative PCR and real-time PCR assays targeting cry1Fa1 transgene were developed and validated with acceptable specificity and sensitivity up to 0.01%. A multiplex (hexaplex) PCR-based screening assay simultaneously detecting five transgenic elements and an endogenous gene was developed for Event 142. Construct-specific PCR reported herein could be employed for more specific detection. These detection assays would facilitate efficient regulatory compliance by checking unapproved Bt brinjal event in the supply chain and also address the concerns of the consumers to an extent. Keywords
